There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling hall betting is illegal. Eight gambling halls are established in a generally small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect location, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling hall, highlights 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel building that highlights many amenities aside from the casino, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
